GreenCruise – Turning Cruise Control into an Eco-Driving Solution
Automakers and car owners are looking for new technologies to get more miles per gallon. Automakers are well aware of rising consumer demand for better fuel economy performance and for more features to be integrated with the car. They face the challenge of delivering innovative, integrated services for driver and passenger entertainment, driver assistance, fuel economy, productivity and connectivity. Some already offer such options as a way to compete for customers, and realize good profits in doing so.
Road-Guard keeps pace with driver demands to have a more economical and environmentally friendly driving experience, integrating its GreenCruise™ solutions into the auto cruise control, adaptive cruise control and stop-and-go cruise control systems.
Powered by patented eco-adaptive Horizon Predictive technology, GreenCruise automatically “senses” the nature and significance of current and impending road attributes that influence fuel consumption and retrieves the most economical driving speed for a given vehicle. GreenCruise provides the eco-speed to cruise control systems, employing the momentum of the vehicle when suitable and avoiding acceleration when appropriate, going into and coming out of road slopes and curves. GreenCruise turns cruise control systems into horizon predictive and eco-adaptive fuel-efficient solutions.
The key fuel economy influencers are vehicle type, road elevations, road events, legal speed limits and driving style. Individual driving style alone is the most significant parameter influencing the fuel economy. Driving with the help of GreenCruise can reduce fuel consumption – and therefore costs – significantly, with the same driver, same car, same road and same route. GreenCruise eliminates the driving style influence by passing control over vehicle speed to eco-adaptive cruise control systems. The driver sets the desired range of speed limits and GreenCruise instructs the eco-adaptive cruise control system on the most economical speed within the desired, legal speed limit related range.
Field trials made with the same car, driver and route – with and without GreenCruise technology – have shown an average fuel savings of 21 percent.
With GreenCruise, drivers not only achieve real savings on fuel costs, but also do their bit for the environment, producing less carbon dioxide (CO2), the main gas contributing to climate change.
In-Vehicle Infotainment
Automakers are well aware of rising consumer demand for more infotainment features to be integrated with the car. They face the challenge of delivering innovative, integrated services for driver and passenger entertainment, driver assistance, fuel economy, productivity and connectivity. Some already offer such options as a way to compete for customers, and realize good profits in doing so.
Road-Guard is charting new territory in the development of in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) applications. We keep pace with driver demands to have a more affordable and safer driving experience, offering to integrate its GreenDrive and SafeDrive applications into existing and new-coming infotainment consoles and systems deployed in cars.
